Although nuts can be high in fat, they are loaded with vitamins and other nutrients, making them a very nutritious snack. Some of these nutrients include magnesium, vitamin E and fibre.

There have also been many studies showing that nuts can help people lose weight and fight conditions such as type 2 diabetes and heart disease.

Processed junk food, including chips and chocolate, are a key contributor to many health conditions including obesity, heart disease and types 2 diabetes.

These foods are low in nutrients such as fibre and protein, yet high in added sugar and refined grains. It’s recommended to avoid these foods as much as possible and instead maintain a healthy diet including fruits and vegetables.

  1. Eat fish

Many studies show people who eat a balanced diet which includes fish have a lower risk of illness such as heart disease and dementia.

Types of fish including salmon are highly recommended to include in your diet as they are loaded with omega-3 fatty acids along with other nutrients.

  1. Drink alcohol in moderation

Binge drinking alcohol can have many negatives impacts on the body, including the brain and liver. This is why it’s highly recommended people who choose to drink alcohol do so in moderation.

Those who smoke are encouraged to try proven methods which help to kick the habit such as keeping a diary or seeking a tailored program from a GP.
